Our “Wild” Blueberries

Over the years we’ve  found increasing evidence that this land was once someone’s loved homestead.  Our county extension has confirmed by our samples that we have a number blueberry plants on the property. These blueberry plants have been overgrown by thick shrubs and trees, making their shaded berries taste bitter.

When their summer 2017 harvest was complete, I marked them so that I can identify them this winter. We will transplant them when dormant to our newly prepared blueberry patch and look forward to fruit someday.
